Mario Kicker grew up in Germany, where he discovered art early on as a means of expressing his thoughts. His curiosity for the unknown eventually led him to emigrate, and he began his formal education in the visual arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. After leaving the academy in 2014, he fully devoted himself to art and began showcasing his work in exhibitions.
He is known for his multi-layered 2D and 3D works, which aesthetically and decoratively explore social and philosophical themes. Kicker combines traditional and digital techniques to capture the diversity and complexity of life. With a deep commitment to inclusivity, he creates thought-provoking pieces that spark societal discourse. As a founding member of the international art collective "DIE mARkT" and a member of renowned art associations like "Biennale Austria" and "La Maison des Artistes," he has exhibited his work globally, including at the Black Heath Gallery in London and Halle 50 in Munich.
Kicker's art is deeply rooted in themes of the zeitgeist, life, and its transience, giving his works a profound depth. He works with mixed media, employing a variety of techniques and materials to realize his artistic vision. He favors oil, acrylic, and lacquer paints, and incorporates digital elements into his analog works through transfer techniques. His use of collage and modeling adds an additional dimension to his art. Inspired by contemporary artists like Albert Oehlen and Jonathan Meese, as well as the Bauhaus movement—particularly Johannes Itten's color theory and Wassily Kandinsky's theory of form—Kicker creates works that are impressive both in content and form.
